British comedy singer Bella Emberg – best famous for her role in The Russ Abbot Show – has died, aged 80.
One of her many noted characters was Blunder Woman, the comic sidekick of the untimely superhero, Cooperman.
Emberg also seemed on The Benny Hill Show, Z Cars, and Doctor Who.
Her agent pronounced she would be “greatly missed”, while crony and pianist Bobby Crush described her as a “truly peaceful soul”.
The “funniest fairy”, comedy actor Paul Chuckle said.
Such unhappy news … my smashing crony Bella Emberg has upheld away. We’ve been chums given appearing together in a Summer show with Russ Abbot at the Princess Theatre, Torquay in 1981. A honestly good lady and despite her extreme on-stage characterisations, a truly peaceful soul.

Emberg had just finished filming a new Sky One comedy, In the Long Run, combined by Idris Elba and due to be expelled after this year.
