The Serondela Lodge in Namibia posted a video of a passed buffalo on a Facebook page Thursday. The Lodge is located on a Namibian side of a Chobe stream that separates Namibia from a southern neighbor Botswana.

“Yesterday morning we witnessed a #tragedy that happened few km west of a board on a #banks of a #choberiver Namibian side,” a Lodge posted. A vast flock of around 1,000 buffaloes was chased by lions towards a Chobe river, it explained. However, a bank on a Namibian side of a stream was too high for a buffalo to scale. “They drowned after who knows how prolonged and by how many panic, highlight and pain,” a board said.
