Gregg Popovich reportedly tips waiter $5,000 at Memphis booze bar

The NBA’s best manager is apparently a very inexhaustible tipper.

And we meant VERY generous.

A cooking receipt purportedly sealed by Gregg Popovich done the rounds on social media showing the Spurs manager handing out a $5,000 tip on a check of $815.73. When reached by the Daily News, Bert Smythe, the owners of the grill in Memphis called ‘McEwen’s on Monroe’, pronounced Popovich frequently dines there but he declined to endorse the last time for remoteness reasons.

The timelines supplement up: The Spurs were in Memphis for playoff games against the Grizzlies on Apr 20 and Apr 22. The receipt is from Apr 21, the team’s night off in Memphis .

Popovich, a booze fan who frequently talks about his affinity for eating out on the road, must’ve really enjoyed his dish and service in Memphis. A 613% tip is considerable even for somebody who is hauling in roughly $11 million per year in salary.
