Oregon Man Crashes Into Herd of Elk, Killing 12 Animals

NORTH PLAINS, Oregon Deputies investigated an early morning pile-up between a pickup lorry and a flock of elk.

On Thursday, Jan 4, 2018, at 4:25 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies
responded to a traffic pile-up on Sunset Highway nearby NW Dersham Road, west of North Plains.

Several motorists called in per a pile-up involving a pickup lorry and several elk.

During the investigation, deputies schooled that a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche was roving eastward when it crashed into several elk that were channel the highway. The driver
of the truck, 36-year-old James W. Childers III, cooperated with the review and did not humour any injuries.

A sum of 12 elk were killed as a outcome of the crash—6 were killed on impact and 6 were euthanized.

OSP Fish and Wildlife Troopers responded to consider either any of the elk beef was salvageable for estimate and donation.
