A teacher was found passed of an apparent overdose in a Bronx open school Thursday night, police sources said.
The 36-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was in a sealed lavatory of Public School X811, a special preparation school on Longfellow Ave. nearby Jennings St., just before 6:10 p.m., sources said.
The teacher may have been passed for a few hours, given he was last seen at the finish of the school day, sources said.
A staff member found him after forcing open the lavatory door, sources said. Police found drug outfit nearby the teacher, including a glassine pouch with an different piece inside, sources said.
“This is deeply deplorable and my heart goes out to the teacher’s family and the school community,” city schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña said.
“We will be providing grief counselors and ongoing resources to support students and staff during this formidable time.”
The city medical examiner’s bureau will establish his accurate means of death.
