SEE IT: United Airlines craft loses engine cover, lands safely

A United Airlines moody landed safely in Hawaii after losing an engine cover while drifting over the Pacific Ocean Tuesday.

The Boeing 777 was on its way to Honolulu from San Francisco when the aircraft had to make an emergency alighting after its right engine started to vibrate, a Federal Aviation Administration orator said.

A newcomer on Flight 1175 tweeted a video and photos of the shop-worn engine in mid-air.

“That looks bad, craft and simple,” wrote Google operative Erik Haddad.

The surrounding seemed to have come off during the flight. The engine didn’t come apart, according to NBC News.

“Our pilots followed all required protocols to safely land the aircraft,” an FAA matter read. “The aircraft taxied to the embankment and passengers deplaned normally.”

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are questioning the incident.
